Ricoh announces new Pentax film camera

Pentax has announced the design and production of a new film camera. The Pentax Film Project has two stages: the first step is to regain the technical knowledge of film cameras within the company. Employees who have worked on film cameras in the past are teaming up with new young employees to pass on their knowledge. Once that is done, Pentax will reach out to the photography community to be involved in the design of the camera.

All in all very exciting news. This means that, besides Leica, Pentax will be the first mainstream producer of film cameras. For more information as well as a couple of videos on the project, please refer to the Ricoh site.
